A love letter to newsrooms and a farewell to WSJ, MarketWatch and the New York Post
Jeremy: What a bittersweet column to read. I also share so many fond memories of 1211AoA during my years with MarketWatch, WSJ Radio, and WSJ Podcasts. Enjoy Substacking. Godspeed and onward!
buildingsroman!
This is great. Random fact about the building I only learned recently when its stock crashed: 1211 was originally called "The Celanese Building."
Loved this, Jeremy, especially your interpretation of the Brahms. What a finish!
Jeremy — “Every day was a carnival and a classroom. There were no meetings or Slack – the newsroom was both.”
I love your love for the things that actually matter.
Working with you was such a joy, it was actually a light, and at that time everyone needed it on the dark floor 4–more fondly called “the basement”.
Thank so much, Kate. Let’s catch up soon. And ha: re the basement— I never heard that.
WSJ cuts everyone, eventually. It’s not worth planning a career there.
OMG - why don’t we know each other? Our paths crossing, as far as I can tell it, three, four, five times. Congrats on the excellent column!
Thanks Gerri.
Beautiful story! Thanks for sharing it.
So great. Call anytime Jeremy. Such a great place to work.
This is so beautifully written!! Looking forward to reading more!
